5 miles and Maine

Friday night I had a fun night out. I might have had one adult beverage too many which led to a rough night sleep.  Saturday morning when I woke up I knew my 18 mile workout was a little over ambitious. I decided to re-arrange my workout schedule a bit. It’s definitely a struggle to be in my 20′s and single and train for a marathon. I’m a very dedicated runner but my life outside of running is important to so it’s all about finding balance.

Fortunately, Monday is a holiday so I knew I could get in my big workout Monday morning. I wouldn’t normally do that but I’m running the Hyannis Half Marathon with Meredith on Sunday so I feel confident I’ll be ready for that given it’s a Sunday run and it’s a half marathon.

I did make it to the gym to get in my “Monday” workout of 5 miles. (I swapped the days). I did 5 miles at 1% incline in 42:48 so and 8:33 pace. I definitely struggled at points it was tough with the incline and pace. It was a good workout though.

I headed up to NH to visit with my Grandmother who broke her hip a few weeks ago. She’s in rehab and doing well and it was great to visit with her.

Finally I headed up to Ogunquit, ME for to spend a night with my family. We went out for dinner with my Aunt Marie and Uncle Sonny. We had a great time catching up and talking plans/logistics for Boston. My Aunt and Uncle along with my parents and cousins will all be running the 5k on Sunday morning. I’m really looking forward to spending Marathon weekend with my entire family.

We had dinner at the Kennebunk Inn. I had sampler size of the chocolate peanut butter explosion cake. It was so cute and the perfect dessert size. I had to share a picture of it!

This morning we headed into town for breakfast and made our way to Perkins Cove. Here are a few winter pictures of one of my favorite places to run.

Off to the outlets!
